Dog ramps are a safe and easy way to get your pet in and out of your vehicle. With the PetStep and the Solvit dog ramps, there are several styles to choose from. Whether your pet needs a folding dog ramp, a telescoping dog ramp, or a half dog ramp, you'll be sure to find what you need.
Dog Ramp Training Tips:
Some dogs will take to a dog ramp immediately. For those that don't, we suggest you put the ramp flat on the ground & walk your dog over it (a reward placed on the ramp also helps or you might try feeding him on the ramp once or twice). When you raise the ramp, your dogs favorite treat placed towards the top of the ramp also works the first time.
The first time up the ramp, take your dog by the collar and lead him to the reward. You'll only need to do this once or twice. It is important to take your dog for a ride after he has successfully entered the vehicle.
Safety for you and your dog is our primary concern, NOT trying to cut corners on quality to improve our profits.
Safety Note:
If you own a dog ramp, please do not place it loose in the compartment with your dog as it becomes a missile in a sudden stop. It is best to simply tuck the dog ramp behind your driver's seat where it is safe and handy for you. We also do NOT recommend placing the dog ramp flat on the back seat, as this presents similar problems in a quick stop.
Ramps and Steps for Your Best Friend by Becky Long
The number of American households that have dogs averages about 63%, or roughly seventy million families. If you are one of those families then you know that your dog is a special pet and a part of your family not just an animal. He is also a great form of protection and security, they're also terrific companions and can be loyal until the end, which could be sooner rather than later if you don't take preventative measures to ensure that your dog remains in best health. This includes the use of dog ramps You're probably unsure how these items can extend your dog's health and just how significant pet ramps can be.
No matter what breed of dog you have, or how young he is, he is not resistant to joint or spinal injuries that can be caused from jumping to and from furniture and other objects. Particular breeds are especially vulnerable to injury from jumping, such as Pomeranians, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, and other breeds that have short legs, delicate bones, or long spines, far too many breeds are prone to
the likelihood of someday developing a joint condition. Genetic makeup is the number one contributor.
Obesity and everyday wear and tear can also lead to many of the orthopedic health problems that influence the mobility of our animals.
As your dog ages a well-designed mobility aid such as dog ramps, can be a genuine life saver for your back and for your dogs. Life as a pet ages becomes more and more difficult, so you should consider the use of a telescoping dog ramp , folding dog ramp, perhaps a boat ramp or a vehicle ramp for outdoor use, and perhaps wooden pet ramps for indoor use.
Ramps can aid your pet in getting up and down and allow your pet to reach higher levels even if climbing stairs is not an alternative, help your dog get in and out of your vehicle, or on and off the sofa.
A pet ramp can aid your pet in reaching areas that would otherwise be off-limits to them. Climbing in and out of the bed, or a boat can be strenuous to an older or tired pet. Lifting your pet yourself can be dangerous and lead to injury and will allow your pet to walk gradually to the level they need, without having to jump and navigate stairs, which can be damaging to their hips and back.
A pet ramp is more than anything else a preventative tool. It is an essential tool for any pet that has stout bodies and short legs. It is also good for any pet that has been injured or has delicate joints and spines due to old age.
A good pet ramp is something that is durable enough to hold your pet's weight, highly moveable and light weight and you can give your pet back the quality of life he deserves.
